Training and Mentoring

Hundreds of people have been trained by Eternity Aid volunteers in skills such as understanding behavioural issues, speech therapy and school-based Filial Therapy.

There are two focuses of Eternity Aid’s training and mentoring programs.

Allied Health

Professional training is offered to Pre-school and Primary School teachers, teacher’s aides, counsellors, Aboriginal Health Workers and Allied Health professionals to enable them to identify learning difficulties, at-risk behaviours, disabilities and health issues that might warrant referrals to local support services or suggest simple intervention strategies.

This training builds capacity and ensures the long-term sustainability of support for local children. The training is delivered by Eternity Aid’s Allied Health Team in-situ during scheduled visits to specific regional areas.

School-based Filial Therapy

Eternity Aid offers a specialised Primary School-based Filial Therapy training program for teachers, school learning support officers (SLSOs) and teacher’s aides in regional and remote areas.

The program educates paraprofessionals in the therapeutic foundations and skills involved in facilitating ‘special play sessions’ with children who have a mild to moderate emotional and behavioural disturbance.
